Matt Krog - Director and Founder
Matt Krog is the founder and Managing Director of Aus Sports Law, with more than a decade of experience advising athletes, sporting organisations, founders, investors and businesses operating across the sporting industry. His practice focuses on corporate, commercial and governance matters, helping clients navigate the legal and commercial challenges that arise throughout the lifecycle of a business.
Matt has advised on a broad range of matters, including business acquisitions and sales, capital raising, shareholder arrangements, governance frameworks, commercial agreements, intellectual property and strategic investments. His commercial approach and understanding of the sporting landscape have made him a trusted adviser to clients operating at every level of the industry.
Beyond legal practice, Matt has served on boards, judiciary panels and appeals tribunals, providing governance and regulatory oversight across Australian sport. Through Aus Sports Law and his regular commentary on the business of sport, he continues to contribute to conversations shaping the future of the industry.
Matt's path to law followed a spinal injury that ended his rugby league aspirations while he was part of the Brisbane Broncos' Elite Player Development Program. That experience instilled the resilience, discipline and competitive mindset that continue to define his approach to legal practice today.
Matt has been recognised as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Sports and Entertainment category in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and was named an Australasian Lawyer Rising Star in 2023.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, training in the gym and kicking the footy at the local park, where he'll happily remind anyone within earshot that he's still got it.
